Sign up and Login

Kraft Hockeyville 2012 is a Facebook connect website. Before you can participate, you must connect using your Facebook account OR sign up using an email address.

  • Why Facebook?
  • When you use your Facebook account to connect to the website, you can make the most of your Kraft Hockeyville experience. In addition to joining communities, uploading content and participating in missions, you can invite friends, share your activities to gain more support for your community, participate in comments and discussions, and compete in regional leaderboard standings. Make the most of your Kraft Hockeyville experience by connecting via Facebook!
  • How do I connect using my Facebook account?
  • In the top right of any page, click the blue 'Connect via Facebook' button. The first time you try to connect your account to this website, you will see a 'Request for Permission' screen. Click the 'Allow' button to connect. When you return at a later date, simply click the 'Connect via Facebook' button to login.
  • How do I sign up with email?
  • You can still participate in Kraft Hockeyville by signing up with your email address. In the top right of any page, click 'Sign Up'. On the email sign up form, provide your name, a valid email address and a 6-character password. When you return at a later dated, click the grey 'Login via Email' button in the top right of the page.

Finding a Community

You must find and join an arena's community page to participate in Kraft Hockeyville 2012.

  • What is a community?
  • There are 2600+ arenas listed in our database. Each one has a community page that becomes 'active' as soon as one person joins the community. Some cities or towns may have multiple arenas, but each arena only has one community page on this website.
  • Where do I go to search for communities?
  • In the global navigation across the top, click on the 'Find Communities' tab or click here.
  • How do I use the search tool?
  • Begin by typing a town, city or arena name in the search field. The tool will display all relevant results. Click on any result to go to that arena's community page.
  • How do I browse by province or territory?
  • Click on a province or territory to view a listing of arenas. Click on any arena name to go to that arena's community page.
  • What if I can't find my community?
  • If you can't locate your arena using the search tool or provincial listings, you can complete a form to request that your arena be added to our database. Once your request has been received, we will verify the arena details provided and then add it to our searchable database. Please allow up to three business days to process your request. If there are any issues or questions about your request, we will contact you by email.

Joining a Community

Once you have found your arena's community page, you must join the community to support their quest to win Kraft Hockeyville 2012.

  • How do I join a community?
  • When you have located your arena's community page, click the red 'Join Us!' button located on the right side of the page.
  • What is the registration requirement?
  • Before you can upload content, contest rules require that you complete a registration form. Complete the form, click the 'Register' button. Now click the red 'Upload!' button located on the right side of the page.
  • What does joining a community allow me to do?
  • Joining an arena's community page is a fun way to share your passion for hockey and support your arena's bid to become the next Kraft Hockeyville.

    When you join a community you can:
    Upload stories, images and videos
    Participate in missions to earn trophies
    Rate your community's submissions

    Facebook users can also:
    Like, Share and Invite Friends to promote your community spirit
    Join comments and discussions with other members of your community

  • Can I leave a community after I've joined?
  • Before you join, you should know that you can only join one arena's community page. Once you join, you are part of that community for the duration of the contest.

Qualifying for the Contest

To qualify for the Kraft Hockeyville 2012 contest, your community must upload at least one story and one image. Your story and image must be tagged to Mission 1.

Incomplete Communities

If your community has not uploaded both a story and a photo tagged to Mission 1, your community is considered 'Incomplete'. Incomplete communities are not eligible for the Kraft Hockeyville 2012 contest.

Early Bird Contest

This year, communities that qualify for Kraft Hockeyville by December 16, can enter the early bird contest to win $10,000 worth of hockey equipment for their local minor hockey association.

  • Who can enter the Early Bird contest?
  • Any community that has qualified for Kraft Hockeyville by December 16 can enter the Early Bird contest. Qualified communities can submit multiple entries but each user can only submit once.
  • What steps can I take to enter the Early Bird contest?
  • STEP 1: Find and join your arena's community page.

    STEP 2: Help your community qualify for the Kraft Hockeyville competition by uploading a story and image to mission 1.

    STEP 3: Enter the Early Bird contest by telling us why your minor association deserves new equipment.

  • Where do i enter the Early Bird contest?
  • Go to the Early Bird Contest page.
  • How is the winner decided?
  • An In-house panel will select the winner. Judging will be based on the following criteria: community spirit (50%) and passion for hockey (50%).
  • When is the Early Bird winner announced?
  • The Sponsors will attempt to reach the selected winner by phone no later than January 17, 2012.

What are Missions?

Missions are a fun way to support your arena's quest to win Kraft Hockeyville 2012. There are five community missions throughout the Kraft Hockeyville contest entry period. Each mission is designed to help communities demonstrate their passion for hockey, hometown pride and community spirit.

IMPORTANT! Mission 1 is required to qualify for the contest.
  • Who can participate in missions?
  • Any user who joins a community can participate in missions.
  • When can I participate in missions?
  • A new mission is released once every two weeks throughout the contest entry period. You can participate in missions as soon as it is released and continue to upload content to the mission until the end of the contest entry period.
  • How can I participate in missions?
  • First you must find and join an arena's community page.

    If you have already joined a community, go to your community page and navigate to the 'Missions' tab. The missions are displayed on the page. Click the red 'Upload' button to submit stories, photos and videos to any mission. On the upload content form, tag your content to a mission number.

  • How can I see how many times my community has participated in a mission?
  • Go to your community page and navigate to the 'Missions' tab. On the top left corner of each mission, there is a red ribbon graphic that displays a number. That is the total number of submissions to any given mission. This number is also displayed within each mission gallery, located above the mission title.
  • Mission 1: Qualify your community!
  • Mission 1 is a contest requirement. Each arena must upload at least one story and one photo tagged to mission 1 in order to qualify for Kraft Hockeyville 2012, but multiple submissions are encouraged. You can qualify for the contest by uploading stories and photos that show your community spirit and passion for hockey. Be original and get creative!

    To participate in Mission 1, go to your community page and click the red 'Upload' button. On the upload form, tag your submission to mission 1.

    Mission 1 starts on November 18, 2011.

  • Mission 2: Make a difference with Kraft Food for Families!
  • Help make the holidays easier for everyone. Go to KraftAssists.ca, add your name to the program and select a food bank to support. Each week, one local food bank will win a donation of $1,000!

    To participate in Mission 2, go to your community page, navigate to the 'Missions' tab and scroll down to Mission 2. Click the blue 'Help Kraft Help Families' button. You will go to the Kraft Food for Families website. Once there, click the 'Help us help families' button and follow the prompts to add your name and select a local food bank. When you return to this website, refresh your page. You will earn a trophy and your community will get credit for your participation.

    IMPORTANT: To get credit for this mission, you must sign up to KraftAssists.ca using the same email address registered to your Facebook account or login for this website.

    Mission 2 is starts on December 2, 2011.

  • Mission 3: Show your community spirit!
  • Upload a photo or video that shows your community spirit and passion in action. Be original and get creative.

    To participate in Mission 3, go to your community page and click the red 'Upload' button. On the upload form, tag your submission to mission 3.

    Mission 3 starts on December 17, 2011.

  • Mission 4: State your case for arena upgrades!
  • Why does your arena need $100,000 in arena upgrades from Kraft? Upload a story, image or video to demonstrate why you deserve it!

    To participate in Mission 4, go to your community page and click the red 'Upload' button. On the upload form, tag your submission to mission 4.

    Mission 4 starts on December 31, 2011.

  • Mission 5: Campaign for your community!
  • Create a campaign to support your arena's quest to win! This could be a street sign, newspaper ad or live event. Upload a story, image or video that captures your campaign efforts.

    To participate in Mission 5, go to your community page and click the red 'Upload' button. On the upload form, tag your submission to mission 5.

    Mission 5 starts on January 12, 2012.

Uploading Content

You must join a community before you can upload content to Kraft Hockeyville.

  • Where do I upload content?
  • Once you have joined a community, you can upload content from your arena's community page. Click the red 'Upload!' button located on the right side of the page.
  • How do I upload a story?
  • Click the red 'Upload!' button located on the right side of the page. Follow the prompts on the form to complete the process, all fields are mandatory.

    First, from the drop down menu, select 'Story'. The form will now expand.
    Next, tag your story to a mission. The tag is set to mission 1 by default. Stories tagged to mission 1 help your community qualify for the contest.
    Provide a title for your story, maximum 50 characters. The title will be displayed with your submission.
    Enter your story in the text box, maximum 4000 characters (about 500 words). You can copy and paste from another document or type directly in the text box.
    Click the 'Upload' button.

  • How do I upload a photo?
  • Click the red 'Upload!' button located on the right side of the page. Follow the prompts on the form to complete the process, all fields are mandatory.

    First, from the drop down menu, select 'Photo'. The form will now expand.
    Next, tag your photo to a mission. The tag is set to mission 1 by default. Photos tagged to mission 1 help your community qualify for the contest.
    Provide a title for your photo, maximum 50 characters. The title will be displayed with your submission.
    Click the 'Browse Files' button to select a photo file from your computer.
    Click the 'Upload' button.

  • Why can't I see my submission?
  • It may take a few minutes to process your upload before it appears on the site. Please be patient. If you are experiencing technical issues uploading content, please contact our technical support team for help.
  • Where can I see my submission?
  • On your community page, click on the 'Galleries' navigation. All content is displayed in mission-specific galleries. By default, the galleries are filtered by 'Most recent'. If you have uploaded a story or photo tagged to mission 1, it will appear in that gallery. If you uploaded content to another mission, it will appear in that gallery.
  • How many times can I upload content?
  • You can upload content as often as you like as long as it is relevant to Kraft Hockeyville and the mission criteria. Content is moderated by your own community and the contest support team. Inappropriate content, duplicates and spam will be removed.
  • How can I remove content?
  • Users are encouraged to moderate their own community's content. If someone has uploaded inappropriate content, you can request to have the content removed. When you are in a gallery, click on the questionable submission. On the detail view, click on the 'Request to Remove Content' link located on the bottom right. On the form, indicate why you want the content removed and click 'Submit Request'. Your request will be verified and removed.
  • What is the criteria for uploading content?
  • Content submissions should demonstrate your community spirit and passion for hockey. Communities are encouraged to submit original, creative content.
  • How do I upload a video?
  • Click the red 'Upload!' button located on the right side of the page. Follow the prompts on the form to complete the process, all fields are mandatory.

    First, from the drop down menu, select 'Video'. The form will now expand.
    Next, tag your video to a mission.
    Provide a title for your video, maximum 50 characters. The title will be displayed with your submission.
    Click the 'Browse Files' button to select a video file from your computer.
    Click the 'Upload' button.

Rating Content with a Star

Rating stories, images and videos is how communities decide which submissions best represent their arena's quest to become the next Kraft Hockeyville. You can only rate your own community's content.

  • How do ratings work?
  • If you have joined a community, you can rate each piece of content once by clicking on the star graphic. Giving a submission a star is like casting a 'yes' vote for that content. The more stars a submission receives from the community, the higher its rating.
  • How do I give (and remove) stars?
  • If you have joined a community, you can rate each piece of content once. You can rate content within any gallery view or any detail view. To give a submission a star, click the star graphic located in the top left blue corner. Once you have given a submission a star, the star display will change from white to yellow. Click on it again to remove the star. The display will change from yellow to white. You can only remove your own stars.
  • How do I know which content I have rated?
  • If the star inside the top left blue corner is yellow, that means you have given it a star. If it is white, you have not given it a star.
  • How does the Top Rated gallery work?
  • On your community page, click on the 'Galleries' navigation. All content is displayed in mission-specific galleries. By default, the galleries are filtered by 'Most Recent'. To filter submissions by ratings, click the 'Top Rated' button located in the middle of the page. The submissions will appear in the gallery in order of their community ratings, highest to lowest.
  • How can I see how many stars a submission has received?
  • From the Top Rated gallery filter (see previous question), click on any submission to view the content detail. There is a star counter located in the top left corner.

Arena Hockey Cards

Once you have qualified for the contest by submitting a story and a photo to mission 1, your community will get a hockey card. It is displayed in the top right area of your community's page. All users who visit the community's page can see the community hockey card.

  • How does the hockey card get a photo?
  • The hockey card photo is the top rated photo from your community's Mission 1 image submissions.
  • How can we change the photo inside the hockey card?
  • The hockey card image can change when the community gives a different photo a higher rating.

Trophies

When you participate in missions, you support your arena's quest to win, and you also earn trophies that honour past Kraft Hockeyville winners.

  • You earn trophies when you participate in your arena's missions.

  • How can I see my trophies?
  • The easiest way to see your personal achievements is on your profile page. In the global navigation across the top of any page, click 'My Profile'. Mission trophies are displayed in a trophy case graphic at the bottom of the page. If you have earned a trophy, it will be displayed in full colour. If you have not earned the trophy, it will be greyed out. Your trophies are also displayed on your communities missions tab.
  • When do I receive trophies?
  • Trophies are awarded when you participate in missions. When you upload content to a mission, the upload confirmation screen will indicate that you have received a trophy.
  • Why should I share my achievements on Facebook?
  • When you share your achievements on Facebook, you can help promote your community's passion for hockey and extend your network of supporters.

Performance Status Banners

Upload stories, images and videos and use social media to promote your arena's passion for hockey to earn banners.

  • Who can earn status banners?
  • Users who sign up to Kraft Hockeyville 2012 with their Facebook account and join an arena's community page can earn status banners.
  • What are performance status banners?
  • There are six banners users can earn over the duration of the contest. Each banner represents a scoring level of achievement. As users accumulate scores week-over-week and attain higher scoring levels, they earn status banners.
  • How do I improve my status?
  • Upload compelling stories, images and videos to your community's mission galleries and promote Kraft Hockeyville and your arena's efforts on Facebook and Twitter.
  • How are scores calculated?
  • Scores are calculated based on a combination of the user's uploads to their community mission galleries and the user's social media activities related to Kraft Hockeyville on Facebook and Twitter*.

    The social media scoring system tracks a range of Facebook and Twitter activities. It is designed to discourage behaviour equated with spamming and instead reward social media that inspires participation in Kraft Hockeyville.

    *NOTE: If a user wants their Twitter activities to count towards their score, they must connect their Twitter account to the website.
  • When are they awarded?
  • User scores are calculated each week and banners are awarded on Fridays by 9pm ET throughout the duration of the contest.
  • How can I see my performance progress?
  • You can see your performance progress on your profile page. In the global navigation across the top of any page, click 'My Profile'. Banners are displayed along a progress bar in the middle of the page. If you have earned a banner, it will be displayed in colour. If you have not earned a banner, it will be displayed in grey.

Social Achievements

  • What are social achievements?
  • Social achievements are one-time actions users can do to earn special Kraft Hockeyville icons:

    When a user invites friends to visit this website, they earn a puck icon
    When a user connects their Twitter account to this website, they earn a stick icon
    When a user likes this website on Facebook, they earn a skate icon

  • What is the difference between liking this website and liking Kraft Hockeyville?
  • This website is a Facebook application. When you like application, you will earn the skate icon and you will see all the exciting activity happening on this website in your Facebook stream. Users are also invited to like the Kraft Hockeyville page on Facebook. When you like that page, you do not earn an icon but you receive important contest updates from Kraft. Liking both is encouraged to make the most of your Kraft Hockeyville experience!
  • How can I see my social achievements?
  • You can see your social achievements on your profile page. In the global navigation across the top of any page, click 'My Profile'. Social achievements are displayed in the top right of the page. If you have earned a social icon, it will be displayed in full colour. If you have not earned an icon it will be greyed out.
  • When do I receive the social icons?
  • As soon as you perform the task you will receive the social icon.
  • Why should I share my achievements on Facebook?
  • When you share your achievements on Facebook, you can help promote your community's passion for hockey and extend your network of supporters.

Leaderboards

Upload content to your community's mission galleries and promote your arena's efforts with social media to see your name in lights.

  • What are leaderboards?
  • Each week, users who participate in Kraft Hockeyville 2012 accumulate a score and ranking. The top ten ranked users in each region appear on the weekly regional leaderboards.

  • How do I improve my ranking?
  • Upload compelling stories, images and videos to your community's mission galleries and promote Kraft Hockeyville and your arena's efforts on Facebook and Twitter.
  • How are scores and regional rankings calculated?
  • Each week, users accumulate a score based on a combination of their uploads to missions and their social media activities related to Kraft Hockeyville on Facebook and Twitter*.

    Rankings are assigned to each user based on scores relative to other users in each region. Rankings are reset each week.

    The social media scoring system tracks a range of Facebook and Twitter activities. It is designed to discourage behaviour equated with spamming and instead reward social media that inspires participation in Kraft Hockeyville.

  • When are the charts published?
  • The weekly leaderboard charts are published on Fridays by 9pm ET throughout the duration of the contest. The leaderboard scores and rankings are reset each week.
  • Where can I view leaderboards?
  • You can view the weekly charts by clicking the 'Leaderboards' tab in the global navigation, located across the top of any page. On the leaderboards page, there are five regional tabs. Use the tabbed navigation to toggle between the regional MVP charts.
